Bill
Fletcher is director of the
Career
Development Center at Middle Tennessee
State University where he started in October 2007. He has transformed the office by
shifting its focus; developing a
new mission and
goals; and offering innovative programs and services to meet the career
development needs of the diverse MTSU population. He oversees a staff of
nine in a centralized career center with four satellite offices offering
Student Employment, Career Exploration, Internship,
Cooperative Education, and Campus Recruiting programs to over 25,000
students.
Bill
has 16 years of experience in university career services, having
previously served as associate director for Employer Relations in the
Vanderbilt
University Career Center and as director of Career and Experiential
Education at the
College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio.
It was in the latter role that he learned
the value of cooperative education, internship, and service learning
initiatives by managing these academic, credit-based experiential
learning programs.
At Vanderbilt, he led an employer relations
team of five, consulting with Fortune 500 companies and smaller
organizations in developing recruiting strategies and branding their
organizations on campus.
He has taught career-related courses as an
adjunct instructor and continues to tailors programs to reach special
student audiences, such as millennials, adult learners, targeted majors,
and athletes.
Bill received his Bachelor of Business
Administration in Marketing from the
University of Mississippi and Master of Education in College Student
Personnel from Ohio
University. His professional involvement includes the
National Association
of Colleges and Employers,
Southern Association of
Colleges and Employers,
Cooperative Education and Internship Association, the
Rutherford
County and
Williamson County
Chambers of Commerce, and Past Chair for the
Nashville Area
Career Fairs Consortium.
